05 Jun 2017 - Scotland Day 17 - Unfortunate Packing
Evening.
Day 101 on escitalopram.
Mood: 5.
Today is my last full day in Scotland, and that being so, there was very little going out and about. I went to Dundee, to get a Scotland hoodie and a tartan tammy hat (I adore hats, and this one looks really good on me, and doesn't squish my hair too much). While in Dundee, I checked in for my flights tomorrow. It was a little bit frustrating to say the least - I had to give Favorite Person my login information for my university email so that she could send me my reservation number. I didn't get a seat near her, for either flight, and that fact bothers me a lot more than it bothers her.
While in Dundee, I also purchased some things from Lush. Got a few samples for my mother as well. I'm considering telling her to not open her gifts from here until her birthday, since I won't be in Chicago for it.
Dinner today was pulled pork, mashed sweet potatoes, and this amazingly creamy corn. I ate a lot of corn. Dessert was ice cream and berries in a brandy snap bowl.
After dinner, we popped a couple bottles of champagne - one dry, one sweet - and toasted a successful trip, and an amazing chef, and an amazing housekeeper.
The rest of the day was spent packing, and packing is what I'm putting off to write this post.
I don't feel much about the fact that I'm leaving this beautiful place.
I'll miss the rich, fresh taste of the butter and milk.
I'll miss the rolling hills, the varied landscape, the seemingly endless herds of sheep and cattle.
I'll miss the kind, hospitable, helpful people.
I'll miss touching physical pieces of history, hundreds or thousands of years old.
I'll miss the evidence of clean energy use - the windmills, the solar panels.
Tomorrow's post is gonna be a timed thing, since I'll be flying across the Atlantic at my normal posting time. I'll do a full reflection of this trip once I'm back in Chicago.
Until then.
